South Australian Police Horse Facilities

Scope of Work:
This development was urgently required to temporarily relocate 10 horses from the Thebarton Police Barracks to allow for the construction of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The development involves the temporary intensification of an existing land use, namely a horse keeping facility, and consists of:
- Temporary accommodation for an additional 10 horses on-site, expected to last approximately 6 months.
- Construction of a Horse shelter measuring 50m x 5m.
- Installation of uncovered yards adjacent to the horse shelter measuring 50m x 5m.
- Implementation of associated earthworks and stormwater management measures.
- Construction of a circular training yard, with an 18m diameter, featuring an uncrushed rock base topped with sand and enclosed by a 1.8m high post-and-rail fence.
