South Australian Police Horse Facilities

Client: Department of Infrastructure and Transport & BESIX Watpac

Duration: 8 weeks

Scope of Work:

This development was urgently required to temporarily relocate 10 horses from the Thebarton Police Barracks to allow for the construction of the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The development involves the temporary intensification of an existing land use, namely a horse keeping facility, and consists of:

Temporary accommodation for an additional 10 horses on-site, expected to last approximately 6 months.
Construction of a Horse shelter measuring 50m x 5m.
Installation of uncovered yards adjacent to the horse shelter measuring 50m x 5m.
Implementation of associated earthworks and stormwater management measures.
Construction of a circular training yard, with an 18m diameter, featuring an uncrushed rock base topped with sand and enclosed by a 1.8m high post-and-rail fence.

  The job involved addressing a driveway that had deep grooves, totalling 375 metres, which needed to be filled and raised to ensure proper water drainage away from the surface. The quality of the work provided was truly exceptional and surpassed our expectations. Communication throughout the project was excellent, with a respectful consideration of our wishes.   I have been chatting with Tom for some time about a job i need done He met at our address and explained the best way to do it without costing a fortune Today he did the job and my God I've never seen someone operate bobcats and rollers with attachments as great as he does It really surprised me how fantastic he is at his job and absolute professional Every piece of equipment he used was clean  extremely well maintained never had any issue all day He completed the work today and I'm extremely happy with the end result I very highly recommend Tom Gertig an absolute pleasure to meet and work with you on any earth moving project you have I have more jobs to be done and Tom is booked to do them all for me Total satisfaction Thankyou Tom for your hard work and expertise

  We engaged Gertig Eartmoving to complete a bluestone rock wall at the rear of our property. Tom was fantastic from the first phone call. He came around and had a look at the work and made some suggestions and provided a quote for the job. Tom’s communication was excellent and he turned up when he said he would to do the work.   We cannot recommend Tom enough, through the whole project he had great communication, attention to detail, genuine care, in depth knowledge and was always conscious of costs. Tom undertook a large scope of works including - driveway repairs, cut & fill, new driveways, blackberry clearing, new culvert, stone steps and much more.
