Ngaut Ngaut Access Reinstatement

Scope of Work:

The late 2022 Murray River flood caused significant damage to areas adjacent the river, including National Parks and Wildlife parks. Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park is a co-managed park situated south of Nildottie and overseen by the Mannum Aboriginal and Community Association Inc [MACAI] and NPWS, was among the affected site.

During the flood events there was significant damage caused to the infrastructure at Ngaut Ngaut, notably the access track to the park. This access track, located along the foreshore, had minimal basecourse material that has largely washed away by the floodwaters. Restoring access to the park necessitates extensive civil works, including the importation of 75mm rubble material capable of withstanding temporary inundation. This material will raise the road level above the 90 GL river level.

The Supplier is responsible for reinstating the access road to Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, which including:

Executing necessary civil works, including preparation, to restore the access road to accommodate large machinery and trucks.
Importing and compacting suitable base course material (75 mm limestone rubble, approximately 300 to 500 mm thick) for the crossing.
Manage surface drainage around roads.

  The job involved addressing a driveway that had deep grooves, totalling 375 metres, which needed to be filled and raised to ensure proper water drainage away from the surface. The quality of the work provided was truly exceptional and surpassed our expectations. Communication throughout the project was excellent, with a respectful consideration of our wishes.   We engaged Gertig Eartmoving to complete a bluestone rock wall at the rear of our property. Tom was fantastic from the first phone call. He came around and had a look at the work and made some suggestions and provided a quote for the job. Tom’s communication was excellent and he turned up when he said he would to do the work.   We cannot recommend Tom enough, through the whole project he had great communication, attention to detail, genuine care, in depth knowledge and was always conscious of costs. Tom undertook a large scope of works including - driveway repairs, cut & fill, new driveways, blackberry clearing, new culvert, stone steps and much more.
